History of design - this plan is based on the big brother Wakefield, the 1939 Canadian National Contest winner and former Canadian Record Holder. Average flight time: 10 minutes and 39 seconds. The original model made an amazing flight of 28 minutes.
Flash to the future - Following the successful launch of The Flying Aces Club's 2011 Gordon Roberts/Dave Pishnery creation of the "Half Size Wakefield" event, in came Ted Allebone. Ted pushed us to move towards a near 3/4 size 36” wingspan Old Time Rubber Fuselage qualifying Wakefield version. After several years of successful flights with Ted's prototype Easy Built Models moved forward with this new addition to our kit line. This kit qualifies for the Flying Aces Club Old Time Rubber Fuselage event.
Still available are the original 45” full size Wakefield and the 22.5” Half-a-Wake.
This free flight rubber powered kit contains a full-size CAD drawn rolled plan, laser cut balsa parts, hand-picked color-coded balsa strip wood, FAI SuperSport rubber motor, 12" E-B propeller, EBM thrust bearing, clear plastic for the windshield, wheels, wire for landing gear, aluminum tube, and Mt. Fuji Japanese tissue in red. To build this model you will need a building board set, hobby knife, fine sandpaper, wire cutting and bending tools and glue.
