The Half aWake kit is a half-sized version of the 1939 Wakefield Canadian National Contest winner. CUSTOMER BUILDS & INFO:
"John and Shannon, Here is a shot of my new Half A Wake. I have flown it just once at Wawayanda in October. It came in second in the Half Wake event (only three planes, all Easy Built kits). Good friend Dave Mitchell won. Flying pretty well but I want to try to move CG further back and use less decalage. Hoping for a better glide. Great kit. Cheers, Dick Gorman"
"Having not really built many laser cut kits in the past I didn't realize how fast of a build they were. Both the Erie Daily Times and the Half Wake went together extremely easily and everything fit great." - Mike Welshans
"I am very happy with this model that flight very well. Greetings from France." - Jean Marc Morin
"Dave, your Half aWake kit is fantastic. Had to build it and would you believe on its 1st flight in Flint at the local contest it was caught 40 feet up in a tree. But with effort got it down with no damage and it took 1st place in Old Time Cabin. ... Flew right off the building board or car roof top. Ha !" - Pres Bruning
"Just finished and flew your Half aWake. It flew great. The plane was built using the plans as is and with the incidence as shown. The only trimming I needed was the 1/8th shim on the wing, as you suggested, and about a 1/16th shim on the nose block. I added the trim tab on the vertical stab but did not need it. I used 8 strands of 1/8th rubber with 800 turns. The plane circled straight up. It awed the crowd of about a half dozen modelers. Great Kit!" - Harold Davidson
"I have just completed 2 of your laser cut kits, a Jimmie Allen Blue Flash and Half a Wake. They came out really well, spending about a week of spare time on each model (total 2 weeks). Modifications were minimal, mainly substitution of Czech props (9.5" for Blue Flash, 7.875" for Half a Wake.) Laser cutting was excellent with everything fitting together just fine; I now await some spring trimming weather!" - Ted Allebone"
"Attached is my completed 1/2 size Wake model. It is a little under competition weight. Thanks for making a great kit." Thomas Jones"
"Don't generally write fan letters but had to make an exception here. The 1/2 Awake was easy to build and trimmed out easily. One of the very few kit models I ever built that wasn't extremely tail-heavy. I used a Flying Aces Moth 8-1/4" carved balsa prop and 4 strands of 1/8" tan rubber 19" long braided. Test flown without a DT but won't fly again until one is installed!" - Randy Wrisley
