During World War II, at a time when planes were desperately needed by the British, the Hurricane fit the requirement for an effective fighter that could be manufactured and put into service quickly. During the Battle of Britain, the Hurricane was responsible for over 60‰ of the RAF air victories. Variants include fighter-bombers known as Hurribombers, Sea Hurricanes, and catapult-launched convoy escorts known as Hurricats.
