The Republic P-47, also known as the "Jug," was a big, rugged, overbuilt aircraft able to bring its pilot home safely despite extensive damage. It was particularly useful as a fighter-bomber for the United States and its Allies during World War II. Early versions had a razorback canopy configuration which left pilots with a blind spot at the 6:00 rear position. A bubble canopy solved the problem.

CUSTOMER BUILDS & INFO
"I am submitting a few photos of the FF71 Thunderbolt that I just finished building. I made some modifications to it that some model builders might like to incorporate into their airplane. First I carved out a recess in the cowling for air scoops and the engine. I found a picture of the 18 cylinder engine on the internet, printed it out, and glued it to the cowling. Second, I added a pilot seat and an instrument panel. Third, I added 2 bombs, from a plastic kit that I had, under the wings. Fourth, I added an external fuel tank and machine guns." - Bill Kallstrom
