De Havilland and his longtime friend, engine designer Frank Halford, modified a French motor and came up with one that was lighter in weight and simpler in design. The new motor powered de Havilland's highly successful Moth family of aircraft. The first such airplane flew in 1925 and continued through WWII. These included the Gipsy Moth, Giant Moth, Hawk Moth, Puss Moth, Swallow Moth, Tiger Moth, Fox Moth, Leopard Moth, and Hornet Moth. They served as private planes, trainers, and light airliners.
This kit is a 1:17.6 scale flying model of the de Havilland Tiger Moth. Pre-1942 design, eligible for Society of Antique Modelers (SAM) contests. This kit was designed by Roy Thomason for the Model Craft division of Easy Built Models.
This free flight rubber powered kit contains a full-size rolled plan, hand-picked printed balsa and balsa strip wood, rubber motor, EB propeller, EBM thrust bearing, clear plastic for the windshield, wheels, wire for the landing gear, TissueCalâ„¢ markings and Easy Built Lite tissue in yellow and black. To build this model you will need a building board, hobby knife, fine sandpaper, and glue.
