Designed by Bruce Finley, the P-1077 was the winner of the 2004 Flying Aces Club Walt Mooney Award for best peanut scale model. This plane has a large wing area and plenty of room in the fuselage for the motor. Historically work on the P-1077, also known as the Julia II, started in 1944. Two unpowered prototypes were 90% complete when the German plant was overrun by Soviet troops.
The builder of this kit has the option of making one of 3 versions, the P-1077, the Julia or the Romeo. This model can be built for rubber power or catapult flight.
This kit includes a full-size rolled CAD drawn plan, laser cut balsa parts and hand-picked balsa strip wood, FAI rubber, vacuum-molded canopy, skids and gun pods, E-B propeller, EBM thrust bearing, Easy Built Lite tissue in olive green, evergreen, and light sky blue and TissueCal™ markings. To build this model you will need a building board, hobby knife, fine sandpaper, and glue. If applicable, you will also need a catapult and accessories.
CUSTOMER BUILDS & INFO
"The model is the Heinkel P-1077 Julia II. I've had the hots for her since my trip to WESTFAC several years ago. She weighs in at 34.5 grams less rubber. At first I thought that was a bit heavy, but it is a rather big ship." - Sky (Ross Mayo)
John Wormley's building notes.
"Went out to the field today to give the P-1077 a go. First tried with one loop of 3/16" and all it did was flop to the ground. (Turned out a bit heavy). So I used two loops of 1/8" that I had. (It was a short motor, only the length of the fuselage.) Anyway flies pretty good with the extra power, fairly tight right circle, must be a warp in it somewhere. Not long flights but fairly stable. It rocks a bit in roll at first but steadies out. Got to get a proper motor in it. Good way to finish the year. Happy New Year to both of you!" - John Majane
